December 24, 2021 - Cabo San Lucas
Last night was better without the lights going on with every movement. Breakfast in the dining room was nice and we chatted with a mother and daughter at the next table. They were on the Coral Princess in South America when Covid hit and they ended up being on for 2 extra weeks until they were allowed back into the US. The first week was OK, but they were confined to their cabins for the second week. There was illness and even one death on board. They gave everyone balconies and free WiFi and arranged flights and private cars to get everyone back to their homes.
We had pretty much decided not to get off the ship at the ports since we've seen them many times and figure there is no need to risk a land-based Covid exposure. So we spent the day just lounging around the pool area. Even though we were both in the shade, we got red on our faces. Lunch was at the burger/lobster spot. They charge $15 for a lobster roll. Seems a bit cheeky, but I tried one and it wasn't bad. Had dinner at a specialty French restaurant, Sur la Mer. That was nice food, with the exception of my dessert - a lemon/lime meringue thing that was too sweet. And the couple at the next table was Zach and Kirsten from our first dinner. Finished watching Red Joan on the TV from the night before and to sleep.About the food, as I said, most is very good, although there are cutbacks everywhere. It is most notable on the buffet and the menus which have fewer choices. And even the iced tea is much weaker than it used to be. Tastes like water.
The Carnival Miracle and the residence ship, The World are anchored here with us.
